Alpine Turn Builders Green
Skier Type
Skier should be able to link turns on a mild pitch. Possibly a 2nd time student, so make sure that the student can link turns in discovery before riding a chair lift. The mountain passport is available to these students if they have not purchased it in the past
Skills to be developed
Balancing movements: Fairly tall stance with equal flex in the ankle, knees, hips and spine.
Rotary Movements: Varying turn shapes increases or decreases with the intensity of the turning of the legs against a stable upper body.
Edge Control movements: Allow the edge angle to be created by the slope, not by forcibly tipping the ski onto a higher edge.
Pressure-control movements: Incorporation of flexion/extension helps to apply forces along the length of the skis.
Goals & Outcomes
The goal for a turn builders green student is to explore more terrain in a fun and safe manner. This will be achieved by learning a variety of turn shapes and controlling speed through these various turn shapes. Mileage, mileage, mileage! Spend more time on moving your student(s) than teaching them.
